El iPod Shuffle es un buen negocio

IDC Consulting abrió un iPod Shuffle y nos cuenta lo que encontró: que el coste de cda iPod Shuffle son unos 59 dólares y que bajará a corto plazo.

La memoria flash de 512 mb Samsung que utiliza cuesta unos 37,50 dólares, y se espera que baje hasta 31,25 este trimestre, lo que supondría que un 46% de beneficio por cada Shuffle vendido.

El segundo componente es un chip Sigmatel STMP3550, que se usa para la conversión de digital a analógico, driver USB2 y más cosas que en el Shuffle actual no están activadas, como la radio FM o un mayor poder de conversión para archivos MP3 y WMA, lo que significa que el Shuffle tendrá interesantes mejoras en el futuro.


Este margen del 46% es aún mayor en Europa, donde Apple usa un tipo de cambio $1=1€

IDC Consulting opened an iPod Shuffle and tells us what found: the cost of iPod shuffle is around 59 dollars and going down.

Samsung's 512 mb flash memory costs around 37.50 dollars, and is expected to go down to 31.25 in this quarter, what could mean a 46% benefit out of each Shuffle.

The second component is a Sigmatel STMP3550 chip, used to convert digital to analogic signal, USB2 driver and more features not used as FM radio or more power to code mp3 and wma, so iPod shuffle will receive interesting updates in a future.


This 46% marging grows in Europe where Apple uses a $1=1€ rate.

Apple ha hecho algunas mejoras en los iPod, algunas muy buenas, y ha cambiado los precios, ahora el iPod Mini de 4gb cuesta sólo 199€

El outsider de la guerra de los navegadores

Ha aparecido un nuevo competidor en la guerra de los navegadores: K-Meleon 0.9, basado en el código de Mozilla 1.7.5, y promete ser más rápido que firefox:

Ocupa 2,8 mb contra 15 mb de Firefox.
Usa 8,7 mb de RAM contra 21,9 mb de Firefox.

Nuevas opciones: ventana externa para búsquedas, ocultar la ventana de búsqueda hasta que esté totalmente cargada, lo que hace más rápida la carga, etc.

Voy a probarlo, hasta ahora nada bajado de SourceForge me ha decepcionado...

Por ahora, sólo funciona bajo Windows.

The outsider in the browser battle

A new competitor in the internet browsers battle: K-Meleon 0.9, based on the Mozilla 1.7.5 code, that promises to be faster than Firefox:

2,8 mb download vs. 15 mb Firefox.
8,7 mb RAM use vs. 21,9 mb. Firefox.

Many new features, external window for search, hide the search window until fully loaded, that makes it faster, etc.

I'll give it a try, nothing downloaded from SourceForge dissapointed me yet...

By now, just for Windows platform.
