External soundcard

I need some help, I'm considering buying an external soundcard for my Compaq laptop, and I have a pair of ideas, both from Creative: Sound Blaster® MP3+ (39.90 €) and Sound Blaster® Live!™ 24-bit External (59.00 €), but first, I don't know if it is a real improvement, my compaq has a motherboard built-in soundcard and sound quality is a bit poor, and too many noise on my 2.1 speakers.

Advice me please, anyone bought it yet?
